BARRE — The former Northfield village trustee accused of hitting a construction flagger with his truck in 2009 was taken to the hospital from his trial in Washington County criminal court in Barre on Monday morning.
The judge said Drown “threw himself down on the floor” in the courtroom.
Lawrence Drown, 68, is facing charges of reckless or gross negligent operation of a vehicle, aggravated assault with a weapon, leaving the scene of a crash with property damage resulting, and reckless endangerment.
Drown was taken to the emergency room by ambulance Monday and by that afternoon had not been released from the hospital. His trial has been moved to August because some of the scheduled witnesses have moved out of state since the incident and could not stay in the area past Monday.
Drown is accused of intentionally hitting the flagger when she was temporarily not allowing traffic through because of a construction project in Northfield on Nov. 13, 2009.MORE IN This Just InVermont State Police say a Massachusetts man has died in an all-terrain vehicle crash in the town...
