MIDDLESEX — A Montpelier woman walked away from an early afternoon accident on Route 12 Tuesday.

State police said Georgia Landau, 65, was not injured in an accident that occurred moments after noon and resulted in significant damage to the 2002 Toyota Echo she was driving.

According to police, Landau was driving south on Route 12 in the section Middlesex known as Putnamville when she lost control of the car while navigating a right curve in the road. Police said Landau’s car veered left, went off the east side of the road, where it slammed into the guardrail, spun counter-clockwise and came to rest facing northeast in the northbound lane.

Landau, who was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident, was checked and cleared by emergency personnel at the scene, according to police. They said no action has been taken against her, but noted the cause of the accident is still under investigation.
