Man steals 13 handguns from store

BENNINGTON — Federal agents and local police are investigating the theft of 13 handguns during a smash-and-grab robbery at a gun store in Bennington.

Bennington Police Lt. Lloyd Dean said it took the suspect only 45 seconds to break the storefront window and steal the guns, leading police to believe the man was familiar with the store.

The Bennington Banner reported local investigators will be working with federal agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives because more than 10 guns were stolen.

Dean said surveillance video from the store showed a male wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, black pants and gloves. The suspect was carrying a gray duffel bag.
