• Driver, 19, cited on alcohol charges

    MONTPELIER — Police pulled over Lee McKinstry, 19, of Montpelier, early Tuesday on Main Street and cited him with driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of a malt beverage.

    According to the police report McKinstry registered a blood alcohol content of 0.082 percent. The legal limit to operate a motor vehicle in Vermont for a person under the age of 21 is 0.02 percent.

    Two passengers in the vehicle, Evan Webb, 19, and Charles Angell, 19, were issued tickets for underage consumption of alcohol.

    McKinstry is to appear in court July 12 to answer to the charges.
