Out here in bucolic Plainfield, we sometimes look at the goings-on in the state capital and shake our heads in dismay and/or disbelief. The recent, much-appreciated Montpelier Police Log column in The Times Argus was just such a moment for me when I read that, on May 9, a Highwood Avenue resident reported a marauding cat was after his chickens and another person reported that a man was standing near Shaw’s “looking at the water.”
Then, two days later, a Hebert Road resident called the authorities to report that “two piglets had escaped.” No wonder the city’s police chief says his officers need Tasers to be safe.
