BURLINGTON — A former legal assistant with the U.S. attorney’s office in Burlington has been sentenced to three years of probation for sharing grand jury information with her boyfriend, who was being investigated on drug charges.
Danielle Hall pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice in January.
Court papers say Hall was fired in 2008 after she told her then-boyfriend about the investigation.
Hall wept at her sentencing Monday, telling the judge she knows she made a horrible decision to access the information. She said she was struggling with depression and alcohol problems at the time. She apologized in court.
The boyfriend, Michael Ryan, was charged in 2009 with marijuana trafficking and laundering drug proceeds through his business. He also was sentenced to probation.MORE IN Vermont NewsA hearing officer with the Public Service Board has recommended state approval for Vermont... Full StoryCouple deny arson charge Full Story -
