BARRE — A 22-year-old Barre man was sentenced on charges relating to the burglary of a Beckley Street home a year ago.

Kyle Rollins was sentenced in Barre criminal court Monday to six months to four years suspended with probation and was ordered to serve 60 days of community work crew for the felony burglary conviction. He was also ordered to pay $141 in fines and surcharges as well as pay restitution on the nearly $10,000 worth of items taken during the theft.

According to court documents, police investigated a burglary that occurred at the Beckley Street home during the weekend of April 30, 2011.

Among the items taken were electronics, jewelry, a safe and silver coins.

The victim said Rollins was the only person who knew both she and her mother were going to be away the weekend the burglary occurred.

Police tracked some of the items that had been sold to a local shop. They traced the sale to two people, Greg Farnham, 24, and Sophia Smith, 21. Police learned that Smith was the girlfriend of Rollins and was living in the same Second Street apartment.

Police executed search warrants at the residences of both Rollins and Farnham, locating some of the items taken from the home. Farnham admitted to selling a ring that Rollins had given him and Smith admitted to selling another gold ring. Police also recovered the safe, which had been broken.
