Police ID victims of fatal I89 crashMay 07,2012
A Williamstown couple and an 8 month-old child are dead after a two-car crash on Interstate 89 in Bolton on Monday morning.
Jason Potvin, 29, was driving a 1997 Subaru Legacy northbound, with April Otis, 29, in the front seat and Hunter Potvin, also of Williamstown, in the back seat, correctly buckled into a car seat.
According to State Police investigation, Jason Potvin crossed the median into the southbound lane and struck a 2002 Chevy Silverado driven by John Hill, a 46-year-old Concord, N.H. man.
Jason Potvin, Otis and Hunter Potvin were pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel. All three were transported to the office of the chief medical examiner for an autopsy.
Hill was transported to Central Vermont Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The crash occurred at approximately 7:30 a.m. and State Police from the Williston Barracks, along with the Crash Reconstruction Team, responded to the scene. The cause of the crash is unknown as of Monday evening, but the investigation is ingoing.
Bolton Fire, Waterbury Fire, Bolton Rescue, and Richmond Rescue responded for extrication, hazmat mitigation, and emergency medical services. Employees from VTrans and the Vermont Division of Motor Vehicles responded to help with traffic control and other incident operations.
To date, including today's crash, there have been 27 traffic fatalities in Vermont this year. Compared to the same timeframe in 2010 and 2011, there were 14 and 20, respectively.MORE IN This Just In
