Vermont man surrenders following 7-hour standoffApril 29,2012
HYDE PARK — Police say a 19-year-old Vermont man is in custody after a nearly seven-hour standoff at his home.
Officials say the Lamoille County Sheriff’s Department was called to a home on Route 100 in Hyde Park at 11:30 p.m. Friday in response to a report that the man had locked himself in his bedroom armed with a rifle, threatening to kill himself.
While deputies attempted to negotiate with him, the man refused to leave the bedroom and continued his threats.
Police say the man eventually surrendered at 6:10 a.m. Saturday after speaking with a Vermont State Police negotiator.
The man was taken to Copley Hospital in Morrisville for evaluation. Charges have not been filed.MORE IN Vermont NewsThe Rutland Herald and City of Rutland returned to the Supreme Court Tuesday in a case involving... Full StoryCONCORD, N.H. — New Hampshire U.S. Rep.
