A corporation is a person under the law since the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in an 1819 case. In Vermont we only have to go to our statutes. One of the easiest to understand is the motor vehicle law in Title 23, Vermont Statutes Annotated, section 4. That is the definition section. Under the definition of person, it clearly includes corporations. Simply, corporations need to register vehicles and pay fees and taxes. In the 33 titles of the Vermont statutes, a corporation is defined the same as a person in at least 13 of them. So, if someone with legal training tells you that a corporation does not have personhood, be careful. They may be lying to you about other things as well. Wayne Dyer
