    @Normal:Keep up the good work

    Opportunities to revitalize the central business district of a community do not come along very often. The last time I recall hearing of redevelopment activity in Barre was back in the mid 1960s when my grandfather was mayor of Barre City. The articles I’ve read from that era clearly indicate that the renewal projects were not without controversy and often didn’t have support from the greater Barre community.

    I am writing to express my support for the City Place project proposed for the business district in downtown Barre. This project will help stimulate the local economy and offers exciting possibilities for local businesses with the anticipated presence of nearly 200 state Department of Education employees. Together with the Main Street reconstruction project and other improvements underway in downtown Barre, City Place will certainly help renew commerce and improve community life.

    These are endeavors the greater Barre community should support and be proud of. To the members of the Barre City Council, and the team assembled to advance the City Place proposal, keep up the good work.
