PLAINFIELD — The Plainfield Select Board approved a budget proposal Tuesday afternoon that is up about 3 percent from last year.
Town Clerk and Treasurer Linda Wells said the increase probably will not be passed on to voters, because the town uses surplus dollars to level-fund the budget.
The total spending approved by the Select Board was just over $821,000, up from about $798,000 last year.
The current municipal tax rate is 65.4 cents per $100 of property value, said Wells.
The Select Board also approved the articles of warning for town meeting, including one to fund structural repairs to the historic Town Hall. The article requests $15,000 to supplement grant money to repair the building.
The board shuttered the building in September after a structural assessment showed it was unsafe, with serious rot and mold. -
