MONTPELIER — Federal labor officials say they've cited a Vermont postal facility for a half-dozen safety violations and will seek $420,000 in fines.

The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration says worker complaints at the U.S. Postal Service's processing center in White River Junction led to an inspection in January that found employees were exposed to deadly electrical hazards.

OSHA says untrained or unqualified workers did work on live electrical equipment without proper safety measures.

Tom Rizzo, a spokesman for the Postal Service, says the Postal Service has begun implementing changes to make sure employees working around electrical equipment are safe.

The ****** service has no extra money. It will either get the money from less services, higher postage costs, or a bailout from a special appropriation. I believe that the money will come from a special appropriation but it is highly unlikely we will ever hear about it. We are bailing out Freddie and Fannie this way.

The USPS is NOT taxpayer funded. It must be self supportive. There is a congressional board of governors that oversees the post office. In case you don't understand that means that not one cent of taxpayer dollars will go to paying those fines and many more as there are several facilities across the nation that have done this same thing.

Where do you think that money to pay the fines will come from? Government at its finest.
