BURLINGTON (AP) — Vermont dairy farmers will get a chance to voice their concerns to U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, who will attend a dairy town hall meeting in Burlington next weekend.

Sens. Bernie Sanders and Patrick Leahy also will be on the panel at the Saturday event at the Hilton.

Later that day, Vilsack will speak at the Northeast Organic Farming Association annual winter conference and at the St. Albans Cooperative Creamery annual meeting in St. Albans.

The dairy town meeting starts at 10 a.m. and is open to the public.

Do you really think Vilsack is going to do anything to help the dairy farmers? Do you really thing he is going to stop the international trade agreements? And now that USDA has announced a 'kinder, gentler' NAIS, but by a different name, expect the full impact of Wickard vs. Filburn on any small/private farmer, homesteader, hobbyist, small grower who sells at a farmers market, and horse owners, semen or embryo sellers. Do not be fooled. The World Animal Health Organization, OIE, has much different plans.

Vilsack, an old Monsanto man, has nothing to offer the dairy farmers of Vermont, but so many are stretched so thin that they will take whatever crumbs he and our <cough> Congressional <cough> representatives dole out.
