BURLINGTON (AP) — The search for a suspect in the killing of a man and a woman in upstate New York has expanded to Vermont and Maine.
New York State police say they want to question 52-year-old Anthony Pavone of Morrisonville in connection with the fatal shootings of Patricia Howard and Timothy Carter.
Troopers Sunday morning found the 43-year-old Howard and the 52-year-old Carter shot to death inside Carter's home in Dannemora, 140 miles north of Albany.
WCAX-TV in Burlington says the search for Pavone has expanded to Vermont and Maine. Pavone is a former Marine and retired state prison guard. He is said to be driving a black 2001 GMC Sierra pickup truck.
Lawyers seek evaluation for Vt. man in sex case
BURLINGTON — Attorneys for a Williston man charged with molesting a 13-year-old girl after drugging her during a sleepover with his daughter want him to undergo a psychological evaluation.
The Burlington Free Press is reporting that attorneys for Robert Kolibas say he intentionally harmed himself in jail just before a court hearing last week.
The 51-year-old Kolibas has pleaded not guilty to charges of lewd and lascivious conduct, unlawful restraint, and delivering drugs to a minor. He's set to go on trial next month.
Police say the girl was staying overnight at Kolibas' home last May when she drank a drug-laced "smoothie" and later awoke to find Kolibas molesting her.
Kolibas is being held at the state prison in Springfield.
