Road sign shot; Jersey man charged

NORTHFIELD – A 22-year-old New Jersey man has been charged with vandalism for allegedly shooting a sign on a covered bridge on Cox Brook Road in Northfield, police said in a news release.

Jan Heyboer, of Park Ridge, N.J., is scheduled to face the charge in Vermont District Court in Barre on March 11.

Police said they interviewed Heyboar, who admitted to shooting the sign with his shotgun. The sign was valued at $60, police said.

Ohhhhhh my LORD. This can't be true. A Jersey man shoots something and gets caught. Thats not how I remember NJ. Maybe there are too many stop signs. Maybe he is responsible for all the other ones. Good job NPD, eventhough he must have turned himself in.
