WILLIAMSTOWN – The Vermont State Police arrested a 26-year-old Waterbury man on a domestic assault charge Monday for allegedly choking a woman in Williamstown.

Ray McKinstry Jr. was held on $1,000 bail and was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday on charges of domestic assault and interfering with emergency services. A domestic dispute allegedly escalated until McKinstry was choking the alleged victim until she could not breathe or speak, police said.

When the alleged assault stopped, the woman fled the house with her daughter and called 911.

Mark Redding, I don't know where you get off saying something like you did!!! Ray Sr. is a good man maybe back in his younger years he was not but he is a changed man who is a wonderful Grandfather, and I can guarantee he is not proud of his son one bit!! I hope Ray Ray gets the help that he needs, this is horrible and I am just happy that she was able to get away safely. I will say that I think Ray Ray needs to be locked up and given the help he needs like maybe some anger management, I have not seen this side of him but have heard of it. Let's hope he receives the help and abides by it and is punished for what he did. But leave his father out of this as he had nothing to do with it.

"McKinstry was choking the alleged victim until she could not breathe or speak, police said." wouldn't that be attempted murder? Lock him up and throw away the key if it's the truth.
