SHARON – Chelsea scored 23 points in the fourth quarter to more than secure a 53-18 girls basketball win over The Sharon Academy on Monday.
Courtney Sanford led the 2-0 Red Devils with 12 points and tallied six steals.
Emma Blanchard added 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds while Morgan Tullar scored eight points and recorded a team-high 10 rebounds.
Ella Hazslett led all scorers with 13 points for the 1-2 Phoenix. Chelsea plays at Craftsbury on Monday.

Peoples Academy 50, Stowe 26
MORRISVILLE – Kayleigh Newton tallied 14 points as Peoples Academy earned a 50-26 girls basketball win over Stowe on Monday.
Erin Nichols added 10 points for the Wolves, who led 25-10 at halftime. Hannah McNulty had 16 points for Stowe.
MEN'S BASKETBALL
Vermont 72, Yale 60
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior Nick Vier netted a season-high 17 points, including 13 in the second half, to lead the Vermont men's basketball team to a 72-60 victory over Yale on Monday. The Catamounts have now won four straight and improve to 6-4, as they wrap up a 10-game road swing to start the year and will play their home opener on Sunday against Quinnipiac at noon.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Vermont 78, Holy Cross 56
WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior May Kotsopoulos scored a career-high 29 points to lead the Vermont Catamounts past Holy Cross, 78-56 in non-conference women's basketball action at the Hart Center on Monday.
Vermont improves to 6-1 overall, the best start under head coach Sharon Dawley, while Holy Cross falls to 3-7 on the year.
Courtnay Pilypaitis added 18 points (14 in the second half), eight rebounds and seven assists. Freshman Kendra Seto contributed a career-high 17 points and eight boards.
The Catamounts used an 11-0 run and held Holy Cross scoreless for four minutes to open up a 12 point lead, 15-3, with 13:24 remaining in the first half and never looked back.
Vermont maintained its double-digit lead for the remainder of the half and it swelled to as many as 20 with 4:44 left.
UVM also dominated the boards, out rebounding Holy Cross 43-27 and outscored the Crusaders 34-18 in the paint.
Vermont wraps up its four-games-in-seven-days tour at Massachusetts on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
