WILLIAMSTOWN – The Vermont State Police are investigating a burglary at a home in Williamstown in which two drawers of jewelry were emptied and a total of about $5,000 in property was taken.

Homeowner Joanne Jenkins, 50, reported the burglary to police at about 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday after arriving at her house, according to a state police news release.

The house was forcibly entered through a basement door, and jewelry, watches and a Nikon camera were stolen, police said.

Among the jewelry stolen was a class ring from Warren Harding High School and a ring with a blue sapphire stone, police said.

During their investigation, the state police took photographs and dusted for fingerprints.

The Jenkins are uncertain who may have done this, police said.
