Special hearing on Merchants Row in Barre

BARRE – Residents with thoughts or concerns about the looming re-development of Merchants Row are encouraged to attend a special meeting tonight at City Hall.
City councilors have scheduled a 6 p.m. meeting on the redevelopment project that contemplates the extension of Merchants Row from Prospect to Granite streets. The project, which will be partially funded with federal grants and involve the acquisition of two strategically located properties, has yet to be fully defined.
However, councilors have expressed an interest in improving pedestrian and traffic flow between Granite Street and Depot Square and addressing parking and other amenities along Merchants Row.
