MONTPELIER (AP) — Vermont Judge Christina Reiss, nominated by President Barack Obama to the federal bench, is up for a confirmation hearing Wednesday.
Sen. Patrick Leahy says the Senate Judiciary Committee, which he chairs, will review the nomination of the Essex Junction resident to the U.S. District Court for Vermont.
Reiss, who was appointed to the state bench by Gov. Jim Douglas in 2004, is expected to win confirmation to the federal judgeship easily.
She would replace Judge J. Garvan Murtha, who has announced his intention to take senior status on the court.
