MIDDLESEX – A Burlington woman has been cited into court after police said she was driving intoxicated when she crashed her car on Interstate 89 early Saturday morning.
Police said the Middlesex barracks received a report of a crash on I-89 in Waterbury. Police said the driver, identified as Amy L. Richardson, 26, of Burlington, said she was in the process of making a phone call when she lost control of her 2006 Subaru and veered off the roadway.
Richardson's vehicle had initially gone off the eastern side of the roadway before crossing both northbound lanes and then moving into the center grassy median. Upon entering the median, police said, Richardson's vehicle rolled one and a half times before coming to rest upside down.
She was able to exit out of the car on her own and was not injured in the crash.
Police said Richardson was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI and processed at the Middlesex Barracks, where she was found to be nearly two times the legal intoxication limit. Richardson is scheduled to appear in Vermont District Court in Barre to answer the charges.
