GIRLS SOCCER
ST. JOHNSBURY – Lilah Watt scored the game-winning goal with seven minutes left in the second overtime period to lift the Montpelier girls soccer team to a 2-1 victory over St. Johnsbury on Thursday.
"Anna (Schwarz) won the ball in the back, sent it to Carly (Watson) in the midfield, and she took a couple dribbles and played it wide to Tatum (FitzGerald) who beat her defender and crossed it just over the goalie's head," Montpelier coach Eric Bagley said. "And Lilah ran on to it and volleyed it into the back of the net."
Watson scored the first Solon goal in the 60th minute, three minutes after St. Johnsbury's Morgan Hill scored the game's first goal.
Sam Daniels made 13 saves for the Hilltoppers while Caroline Dellipriscoli made nine saves for the 9-2-1 Solons. Montpelier hosts North Country on Wednesday.
Peoples 1, Hazen 0
HARDWICK – Allison Scarf scored for Peoples unassisted in the 28th minute, leading to a 1-0 victory over Hazen.
"We had some chances; they had more chances," said Hazen coach John Sperry. "The (goal) they had was kind of a seeing-eye ball. It wasn't very well-hit, but it found the corner."
Jessica Brochu had three saves for Hazen and Kaleigh Newton saved two for Peoples.
Hazen is now 5-4-3 and travels to Lake Region on Wednesday. Peoples improves to 9-2.
Northfield 2, Lyndon 0
LYNDON – Northfield scored two second-half goals to secure a 2-0 girls soccer victory over Lyndon on Thursday.
Morgan Lamorey connected on a penalty kick in the 45th minute and Kelsey Langley, assisted by Kelly McLellan, scored in the 52nd minute.
Kristi Luce made three saves for Northfield while Lyndon's Shauna Poole stopped 16 shots.
"The girls have been working hard and it showed today," Northfield coach John Diebold said.
Northfield improves to 4-4-3 and hosts U-32 on Monday.
U-32 1, Stowe 1 (OT)
STOWE – Both U-32 and Stowe scored second-half goals and settled for a 1-1 girls soccer tie on Thursday.
Cat Mullen, assisted by Marley Hauser, scored for Stowe in the 50th minute and U-32 answered 10 minutes later with a goal by Ally George, assisted by Iris Dayton.
Both goalies, Stowe's Hannah McNulty and U-32's Katie Kreis, each had 12 saves.
"Both teams had good, quality chances," Stowe coach Tim Zeigler said. "But nobody put them in. It was very well-played by both teams."
U-32 stands at 4-6-1 and Stowe stands at 2-8-1 and hosts Peoples Academy on Monday.
Randolph 1, Spaulding 0
RANDOLPH – Amanda Bowen put Randolph on the board just over a minute into Thursday's girls soccer game with Spaulding and the Galloping Ghosts held on for a 1-0 victory.
Molly Poirier assisted on the play.
"Exciting, they're Division I and we're Division III, but we were ready to play and got on top right away," Randolph coach Tim Kaleita said. "Certainly they're a good team, and they have very dangerous player with a good throw. It was an even game, so it was exciting for us."
Randolph outshot Spaulding 15-14.
Shayne Reis made 12 saves for 5-6-1 Randolph, which plays at Peoples Academy on Wednesday.
Jessica Gosselin made nine saves for 6-7 Spaulding.
Harwood at North Country, 4 p.m.
NEWPORT –
Oxbow 3, Richford 0
BRADFORD – Hayle Lund scored two goals to lead Oxbow past Richford 3-0 in girls soccer on Thursday.
Tori Brill assisted on the first goal, scored in the fifth minute, and Reilly Johnson assisted on Lund's second, scored in the 73rd minute.
McKenzie Garone scored the middle Olympian goal unassisted in the 37th minute.
Karley Hamilton made four saves for Oxbow while Richford's Sarah Farrar stopped 14 shots.
"It was a good game for our seniors," Oxbow coach Brian Musty said. "They all got in, and we were able to move the ball around well. It went pretty smooth."
Oxbow, which honored seniors Brill, Lund, Jacey Emerson and Emma Scheidmuller, improves to 10-1-2 and travels to BFA-Fairfax on Wednesday.
BFA-Fairfax 7, Danville 3
FAIRFAX – Danville scored three second-half goals to avoid a shutout as the Indians fell to BFA-Fairfax 7-3 in girls soccer on Wednesday.
Jamie Cyr scored twice and Alysia Vance added another for 3-9 Danville.
"My girls played an excellent second half," Danville coach Jeremy White said. "We outscored them 3-2 in the second half. It was inspiring for my girls and they played very good soccer despite the score."
Casey Baczowski made four saves for BFA-Fairfax and Tanya DeMasi stopped 13 shots for Danville, which hosts Winooski on Wednesday.
BOYS SOCCER
Williamstown 1, Concord 0
CONCORD – Williamstown's Mitch St. Onge scored an unassisted goal in the 20th minute and Blue Devil goalie Justin Beaudet secured the shutout as Williamstown topped Concord 1-0 in boys soccer on Thursday.
"The defense played strong as always," Williamstown coach Scott Hulburt said.
Williamstown, now 8-3, hosts Concord today at 4 p.m.

Rice 2, St. Johnsbury 0
SOUTH BURLINGTON – Christine Skeffington scored two second-half goals for Rice in its 2-0 victory over St. Johnsbury. Both goals came off penalty corners, which Rice dominated: The Green Knights had 19 penalty corners while the Hilltoppers had none.
"Our defense worked hard tonight. Our offense was asleep," St. Johnsbury coach Fran Cone said.
Rice also dominated shots on goal with 13 while allowing no shots by St. Johnsbury.
"We kept going wide," said Cone.
Rice goalie Sydney Carney-Knisely made no saves despite recording a shutout. Ann Goolman saved 11 shots for St. Johnsbury.
The Hilltoppers (5-7-1) play their regular-season finale at Harwood tonight.
U-32 1, North Country 1 (2OT)
NEWPORT – The U-32 field hockey team ended the regular season with a 1-1 tie with North Country on Thursday.
Erin Connor scored the Raiders' goal off an assist by Kelsey Lee with 20:15 left in the first half. North Country scored the tying goal later in the first half.
Morgan Pratt stopped eight shots for the 12-1-1 Raiders while Emma St. Marie made 12 saves for the Falcons.
WOMEN'S COLLEGE SOCCER
Norwich 3, Lyndon State 1
LYNDON CENTER — Karissa Doyon's return to the Northeast Kingdom was a special one as the Canaan Memorial grad netted two second-half goals to lead Norwich University to a 3-1 victory over Lyndon State College in a non-conference women's soccer match held at the LSC Athletics Field Thursday afternoon.
Brittany Casey gave the Cadets the lead for good at 10:30 of the opening half by punching home a pass from Ashley Sanford. The one-goal advantage stood until the midpoint of the second half when Doyon tallied two goals off a pair of crosses by Emily Chandler to push the Norwich lead to 3-0.
The lone Lyndon goal came in the final minute of play as Kathy Kline drilled a shot into the lower left corner of the net off a pass from teammate Abby Fadden.
Nicki Hunsicker and Meghan Kennedy combined to make two saves for the Cadets and Natalia Shams turned aside 16 shots for the Hornets. Norwich outshot Lyndon 32-5. Norwich improves to 6-7-1 overall while Lyndon falls to 7-6.
New Hampshire 3, Vermont 0 BURLINGTON — Markia Posehn handed out two assists to lead the New Hampshire Wildcats to a 3-0 victory over Vermont in America East women's soccer action at Centennial Field.
UNH opened up the scoring in the 14th minute when South Burlington native Morgan Keefe was able to knock in a corner kick from Posehn. The Wildcats would take the 1-0 lead into halftime.
Shaunna Kaplan pushed UNH's lead to 2-0 when she received a long service from the midfield and chipped a shot over Vermont goalkeeper Eliza Bradley of Charlotte in the 59th minute.
Jordyn Krall closed out the scoring for the Wildcats in the 72nd minute. Posehn picked up her second assist of the match, serving a ball into Krall, who won a one-on-one battle with Bradley at the top of the penalty area.
UNH finished the game with 18 shots to UVM's 10. Bradley and freshman Alyssa Kelly combined for six stops in the contest. Ally Yost made eight saves for New Hampshire to pick up the shutout.
UNH improves to 3-11-1 overall and 2-3-0 in America East. The Catamounts fall to 1-10-3 and 1-3-2 in league play.
UVM closes out the regular season with three road games next week. Vermont will play at Dartmouth on Tuesday in a non-conference match.
The Catamounts are still in the hunt for an America East playoff berth and will travel to Binghamton on Thursday and wrap up the regular season Sunday at Hartford.
