Bryer arrested on new sex charges

MORRISVILLE – A former fifth grade teacher, charged two weeks ago with multiple counts of aggravated sexual assault and other sex crimes for his alleged contact with two boys, was arrested again on Wednesday on new charges, state police said in a news release.

The crimes he was charged with yesterday allegedly took place before Bryer's first arrest, police said.

Shaun Bryer, 28, was charged with lewd and lascivious conduct with a child and possession of child pornography on Wednesday and was released on conditions after his arraignment, police said.

Bryer posted bail after he was arraigned on the initial 17 charges on Sept. 14.

In the first case, Bryer, a Morrisville resident, showed the boys pornographic movies in his home and molested them dozens of times between January 2008 and August 2009, according to police. Bryer also allegedly gave them money to keep quiet.

Bryer had been a teacher at Morrisville Elementary School where the two alleged victims in the case were students.

Bryer began a teaching job at Malletts Bay School in Colchester this fall but had his teaching license revoked.

He also was the chairman of the Morristown Selectboard when he was arrested but has resigned.

Bryer has pleaded not guilty to the charges, but during the investigation, he confessed to the initial allegations, according to police.

politically i agree with most of what you say. however, for someone who wants limit welfare, don't you think they need to be educated? you get back what you put in. if you are paying low teacher salaries you will likely not get the most qualified.

The thing is none none, he won't get to meet bubba.. they are segregated from the main population because there is so many daddy's in there that would love one second alone with these guys.

I think I figured it out... AYK is not a real person... "it" is a "plant" by The Times Argus to stir controversy and drive readership. Surely nobody could be as nonsensical, insensitive and offensive as this poster proves to be on a daily basis.

Re: this specific post... one need only look at the passion, commitment and love for the children shown by the vast majority of our teachers, combined with the fact that they work for far less money than others with an equal level of education and workload to outright dismiss the ignorance spewed by AYK.

AYK, please--most teachers are honorable women and men who would never even think of hurting any child. Most work long, hard hours for (relatively) little pay, when you consider all of the preparation, grading, etc., that they do, and most do their jobs despite the challenges of teaching kids who are often disrespectful, disinterested, and disinclined to work very hard at their studies.
