Passenger hurt, DUI charged in crash

CRAFTSBURY – A Hardwick man was cited for allegedly driving under the influence following a one-car crash that injured a passenger who was riding in his vehicle, according to the Vermont State Police.
Daniel Mercier, 26, was cited for DUI after police responded to the crash at the intersection of East Craftsbury Road and South Craftsbury Road late Tuesday night, police said.
Jason Thompson, 28, of Woodbury, was transported to Copley Hospital with minor lacerations and general soreness after the accident, which took place at about 11 p.m., police said.
The vehicle was totaled and Mercier is scheduled to appear in court to face the charge at a later date.
