CALAIS – The Vermont State Police say a 26-year-old Marshfield man was intoxicated when the car he was driving crashed Wednesday night in Calais, sending a woman and two small children to the hospital.
Roy Haley was cited to appear in Vermont District Court in Barre to face a drunk driving charge after police responded to a one-car accident on Kent Hill Road at about 9:30 p.m.
Police found the 1989 Chevy Camaro that Haley had been driving down an embankment off the shoulder off the steep roadway.
Sarah Haley, 23, was not wearing her seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle, police said. She was transported to Central Vermont Medical Center with a back injury, said police.
The two small children who were in the car were evaluated and then released from the hospital, and police did not say whether they sustained any injuries.
