Douglas announces energy project funds

MONTPELIER – Several central Vermont towns and projects are among 14 statewide chosen to receive energy efficiency funding, Gov. James Douglas announced Friday. Among the projects:

Harwood Union High School is teaming up with Freeaire Refrigeration Systems of Warren to significantly reduce the cost and energy needed for the cafeteria's refrigerators.

Plainfield Fire and Rescue will receive $12,000 to weatherize the 1854 squad building. Annual emissions reduction — 10 tons.

Yestermorrow Design/Build School of Warren will receive $11,850 for a solar hot water system and demonstration project.

Moretown will receive $12,000 for weatherization and lighting upgrades at the town hall.

Waitsfield will receive $6,515 to insulate and weatherize the Joslin Library.

The Worcester Historical Society will receive $9,753 to weatherize and insulate the building.
