State police log: August 21 - 30

These are some of the calls for service the Vermont State Police Barracks in Middlesex received between Aug. 21 and Aug. 30.



Aug. 30

A missing 2-year-old was reported on Valley Lake Road in Woodbury at about 3:15 p.m. The 2-year-old was under the supervision of a 14-year-old sister and had been missing for about an hour, said police. While police were on their way to the scene, it was reported the child had been found by a neighbor who had joined in the search. The child was uninjured, police said.

A person who has schizophrenia was reported missing in Worcester.

A black truck was reportedly on a Vermont Association of Snow Travelers trail and tearing it up in the area of Shady Rill Road and Storey Road in Middlesex.



Aug. 29

There was a report of vandalism to fields on Shady Rill Road in Middlesex.

A burglary was reported at a camp on Hardwood Mountain Road in Marshfield. Police were told that the camp was entered through a back window, the screen was cut and several items were taken.

A car reportedly rolled over into a stream off Moretown Mountain Road in Moretown, but there were no injuries.

A one-car rollover with no injuries was reported on County Road in Calais.

Police took a report that someone who has a camp on West Hill Road in Roxbury had learned that someone was staying there. The brother of the owner of the camp is the caretaker of the camp, police were told, and the brother went to the camp and found food in the refrigerator, the lights on and a laptop on the table.

A complainant said someone was on his land on Riddel Pond Road in Orange and was setting off fireworks.

Possible cases of driving under the influence of alcohol and underage drinking were reported at a Cogswell Street location in Williamstown.



Aug. 28

A caller reported that a truck was stolen from their home business on West Corinth Road in Washington in the last 10 minutes. The caller said the keys were in the vehicle, which was last seen headed toward Barre. Police issued a "be-on-the-lookout" warning over the radio.

A theft reportedly occurred at Roberts Country Store on Main Street in Washington.

A caller said she was walking northeast on Route 100 and located a skeleton and skull down the embankment just before the on-ramp to Interstate 89 northbound. The caller said she did not investigate further because she feared it might be human, though she said it's possible the skeleton was that of an animal. Police confirmed they were deer bones.

A sex offense was reported.

Authorities planned to serve an abuse prevention order at a Moretown apartment.

A problem with a neighbor and a dog was reported on Dumley Road in Warren.

An underage party was reportedly taking place at a location on Route 14 in Williamstown.



Aug. 27

A caller said he has been receiving harassing phone calls from a former tenant at a location in Orange.

Police arrested a 57-year-old Massachusetts resident for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol after a motor vehicle stop on the Moretown-Waitsfield town line at about 11:58 p.m. Leonard Mixon, of Methuen, Mass., ran a stop sign and didn't use a turn signal at the intersection of routes 100 and 100B, police said. A trooper followed the vehicle and watched it cross the center line and the fog line, said police. After pulling Mixon over, police suspected he had been drinking, processed him for alleged DUI and issued him a citation to appear in court.

A one-car accident was reported on Interstate 89 northbound in Waterbury.

It was reported that three different guns were stolen on East Orange Road in Washington.

A person who works for the town highway department said she was harassed in Williamstown by two people who followed her into a store. The complainant said they harassed her about taking a coffee break and had rude comments.

Police took a report of a suspicious incident on Route 100 in Waterbury. Someone reportedly jumped out of a moving vehicle.

Two men reportedly threatened another man who used to own a business and owes the two men money for past paychecks. The incident allegedly took place on Foggy Mountain Drive in Moretown.



Aug. 26

A Ford Escort that had its keys in it was reported stolen from a driveway on Dugar Road Extension in Worcester.

A subcontractor working on the Sugarbush Access Road in Warren allegedly stole equipment from another worker while the worker was out sick.

A caller reporting seeing a thin male with rotten teeth and wearing a red cap and brown shirt grab a female and try to hit her on Vermont Route 110 in Washington.

A theft was reported on the Waterbury-Stowe Road in Waterbury.

A woman reportedly broke into an apartment and took a shirt on Chelsea Road in Williamstown. The complainant said the woman has been doing this for a while now.

Five picnic tables were reportedly in the river next to the Recreation Field in Plainfield in a case of vandalism.

A driver rolled his Jaguar on Route 215 in Cabot. There were no injuries reported.



Aug. 25

A caller reported that she had gone off Reservoir Road in Orange after attempting to miss a deer in the road. She said she struck the deer and continued off the road. The vehicle was on its side and the caller complained of back pain but refused medical attention. She said she believed the deer was injured and ran into the woods.

A $6 gas drive-off was reported on Route 100B in Moretown.

A complainant said a man drove by her house on Gilbert Road in Williamstown and said obscenities out the window to her.

A caller said her iPod, bracelet and two necklaces were stolen from a house on Fox Farm Road in Moretown sometime in the last three to six weeks.

An accident with no injuries was reported on Moretown Mountain Road in Moretown.

One man allegedly assaulted another man and vandalized his car on Business Center Road in Williamstown. The victim reportedly refused medical attention.



Aug. 24

A woman reported that her "car is turning black and disappearing" and she needs her car to go get groceries.

A family fight was reported on East Wind Drive in Waterbury.

A family fight was reported on Warren Mountain Road in Roxbury.

Forty bags of trash were found on the side of a road in Williamstown.

A female at the emergency room at Central Vermont Medical Center had injuries she suffered in a domestic assault the previous night and wanted to talk to a trooper about the incident.
