BARRE TOWN – On June 25, 2009, Roger and Rita Vigneault, of 59 Brook St. in Websterville, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Early that evening, a melodious Barre Tone Quartette beautifully serenaded them in the privacy of their home, where cake was served to all.
On June 27, the couple, along with their four children, Georgette, Roger, Gerard and Roland, and their families, attended Mass at St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Graniteville. On June 25, 1949, Rita T. Gingras and Roger J. Vigneault exchanged wedding vows in that same church.
After the service, a private reception was held at the Hilltop Restaurant, on Quarry Hill. Marc Gregoire entertained the guests by playing memorable fiddle music on his violin. A papal blessing, imparted by His Holiness Benedict XVI, was presented to the couple by their children. A Mass of thanksgiving was celebrated in Rome for the special intentions of Mr. and Mrs. Vigneault by the Rev. James Dugan.
Many thanks to everyone for the flowers, cards and prayers that made their diamond anniversary so very meaningful.
