CABOT – A fire destroyed a camp in Cabot on Friday and investigators have declared the blaze suspicious.
Members of the Cabot Fire Department responded to the burning camp off Coits Pond Road at about 10 p.m., according to a release from a state police fire investigator. They found the building fully engulfed and the roof already had collapsed into the structure.
At the time of the fire, there was no one at the camp, which is owned by Richard Boucher, a 59-year-old resident from Watertown, Conn. No one was injured, police said.
The camp was valued at about $50,000 and was a complete loss, said police.
Police conducted an origin and cause investigation and declared the fire suspicious, but did not say how it started. The investigation is ongoing.
Anyone with any information is asked to call Detective Sgt. Fred Cornell at 802-748-3111 or anonymously call the Vermont Arson Tip Award program (VATAP) at (800) 32-ARSON.
