NEWBURY – A Washington man, two friends and their 14-month-old baby were briefly stranded on the banks of the Connecticut River when their row boat floated away over the holiday weekend.
State police say they received a 911 call from Adam Morrie, 27, at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday informing them that his boat had drifted away while he and his friends were napping at a camping area about a mile north of Newbury Crossing. According to police, Morrie said he neglected to secure the boat and it drifted away when the water level rose due to Saturday's rain.
Using a boat of their own, police located Morrie, his friends Amanda Kenyon, 22, Jason Abbott, 30, and their infant son, all of Washington and gave them a ride off the river. The wayward row boat was recovered Sunday.
