MONTPELIER (AP) — July brings some new laws affecting boaters in Vermont, including higher registration fees and a ban on use of personal watercraft when it's dark.
Registration costs are up for cars, trucks, motorized boats and snowmobiles. The motorboat registration fees are up by $5.
But boaters also have another new law affecting them.
That allows police for the first time to board a craft to conduct a safety inspection or look at registration documents.
