BARRE – A woman who stormed into a local school and verbally assaulted a student pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct Thursday in Vermont District Court in Barre.
Shannon Papineau, 34, will serve five days on a work crew and undergo anger management counseling, according to the plea agreement. Her full sentence is five to 60 days, all suspended by the five days on work crew.
Papineau and her boyfriend Peter Benedini were both charged with crimes following the March 31 incident, an assault that took place in a classroom at U-32 Middle and High School.
Benedini, 39, still faces charges of simple assault and disorderly conduct. Benedini is accused of grabbing the female student and pushing her up against a desk. The victim was not seriously injured in the assault, which occurred after she had a dispute over a stolen iPod with the daughter of Benedini and Papineau earlier that day, court records state.
