BURLINGTON – The creative and soulful performer Anaïs Mitchell will appear at the UVM Recital Hall tonight at 7:30 pm as part of an extended Lane Series season. Opening will be her frequent performing partner, Meg Hutchinson. Mitchell is a restless troubadour of a singer-songwriter whose intimate and poetic songs and beautiful pure soprano voice caught the attention of Ani DiFranco who signed her to Righteous Babe Records in 2004. The intimacy and great acoustics of the UVM Recital Hall will be perfect venue to hear her music. Opener Hutchinson has garnered much critical attention for her unique alto vocals, resonating razor-sharp lyrics and sophisticated folk/pop songwriting. Based in Boston, Hutchinson has already won numerous songwriting awards in the United States, Ireland and the U.K.
