WOODSTOCK – The hills will be alive with the sound of music from June 29-July 3 when Interplay Jazz hosts a one-week residential workshop that includes master classes, jam sessions, films, yoga and performances – and all that jazz. Interplay Jazz founder Fred Haas has had a long and rich career as a jazz musician, Dartmouth college professor and recording artist. His vision has grown to embody the best in creative teaching. The hand-picked staff of Interplay are master music teachers who believe in and practice the art of yoga and meditation to help students get in touch with creativity and to use those skills to reduce performance anxiety and broaden the relationships that we have a musicians. Haas has been honing his camps for over 13 years and has cultivated a diverse group of musicians willing to put themselves in the hot spot of intense learning and swingin' fun that includes, in addition to workshops, year-round classes and performances in multiple East Coast locations. There are plans to expand to Florida, Seattle and Vancouver, British Columbia.

subdudes playing benefit

QUECHEE – Pentangle Arts Council invites you to celebrate the approach of summer and their new season of live performances when they host a Barn Owl Dance Benefit Picnic Concert with the subdudes on Saturday, June 6. Rescheduled from the event's original date last October, the Barn Owl Dance will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Vermont Institute of Natural Science Nature Center Proceeds from this event benefit Pentangle's Tomorrow's Audience and Arts in Education programs. The event will feature a catered gourmet picnic, a live auction, complimentary admission to VINS grounds and exhibits, a live raptor demonstration, a sneak preview of Pentangle's upcoming 2009-2010 season, and music by one of the most acclaimed and original bands ever to emerge from New Orleans – the subdudes.

Sunday: At 8 p.m., "Tony Bennett: An American Classic" celebrates the singer's life and features him in duets with Barbra Streisand, Elton John, Stevie Wonder and other friends. At 9 p.m., it's "Josh Groban Live in New York," with the popular singer at intimate Rose Hall. He welcomes jazz greats Chris Botti and Herbie Hancock.

Monday: At 7:30 p.m. on "Profile," Fran Stoddard talks with Irasburg novelist Howard Frank Mosher. His recent book "On Kingdom Mountain" adds to his repertoire of work illuminating life in rural Vermont.

Tuesday: At 9:30 p.m., VPT presents "Pete Seeger: Live in Australia 1963," a chance to see a great performer in his prime. Seeger includes folk standards, children's tunes, freedom songs and much more.

Wednesday: At 9 p.m., jazz trumpeter Chris Botti performs with guest artists including Sting, Josh Groban and Yo-Yo Ma in "Chris Botti Live in Boston."

Thursday: At 9 p.m., "My Music: My Generation — The '60s" focuses on folk rock, R&B and pop hits from the years 1965-69. Artists from the era of peace, love and protest perform.

Saturday, June 13: At 7 p.m., Dame Judi Dench and Geoffrey Palmer reprise their roles in a beloved Britcom for the "As Time Goes By Reunion Special." The story picks up where the original series left off, revealing Jean's longing for grandchildren, much to her husband Lionel's dismay. At 9 p.m., VPT returns "Hit Man: David Foster" to the screen on "Great Performances." It's a star-studded tribute to the great songwriter and producer with the likes of Josh Groban, Michael Buble, Celine Dion and many others.
