MONTPELIER – Onion River Chorus, directed by Larry Gordon, the Arc'Angelo Baroque Ensemble led by violinist Kevin Bushee, will present a program of rarely heard German Baroque choral and chamber works in two performances: Saturday, June 6, at 7:30 p.m., at the East Craftsbury Presbyterian Church; and Sunday, June 7, at 7 p.m. at Montpelier Unitarian Church. The combined choir and instruments will perform: "Dominus illuminatio meo (The Lord is my light)," a stunningly dramatic Latin motet by Franz Tunder (1614-1667); "Der Herr ist mit mir (The Lord is with me)," by Dietrich Buxtehude (1637-1707) featuring an extravagant Amen in the form of variations; and the extended cantata for choir and soloists "Singet dem Herrn ein neues Lied (Sing to the Lord a new song)" by Georg Philipp Telemann (1681-1767). In addition Arc'Angelo will perform four instrumental works: a Telemann Suite, in which each movement bears the name of a mythological Greek female character; a setting of the Pachelbel Canon in D for three violins and continuo; a virtuosic sonata for three violins by Johan Schmelzer (1623-1680); and a Buxtehude sonata for violin, viola da gamba and continuo. Arc'Angelo is a period instrument ensemble based in Vermont, specializing in the rich and varied early violin and keyboard music. The other players in this concert, all on Baroque instruments, are: Corinna Fox and Robert Lee Adams, violin; Tom Jocks, cello and viola da gamba, and Lynnette Combs, harpsichord.

Admission at the door is $12, $8 for students and seniors. For more information call (802) 426-3210, or 476-4300.
