Woodbury fire deemed suspicious

WOODBURY – Neighbors saved a mobile home from serious damage Friday evening when they heard smoke alarms going off from inside the home. Fire officials say the fire may have been set intentionally.
Barry Carr, 20, and Troy Bennett, 30, were able to get inside the home and extinguish the fire. Another neighbor called to report the fire around 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Brenda Randall, who lived in the building at 88 Meadow Lane in Woodbury, was not home at the time the fire started.
Woodbury firefighters arrived as the fire was being extinguished and called off a neighboring squad. The Woodbury department remained at the scene to ensure the fire was out.
The estimated damage to the mobile home is under $1,000 and no one was injured in the fire.
Vermont State Police and Division of Fire and Safety personnel Fire were at the scene investigating. It is believed the fire was intentionally set. An investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Vermont Arson Tip Program at 1-800-32-ARSON or the Vermont State Police at (802) 229-9191.
