• Ad was a disgrace

The Times Argus/Rutland Herald welcomes letters to the editor, allowing freedom of speech with a small caveat that letters that are libelous, in poor taste, or incomprehensible will not be published.

So imagine my surprise (and disgust) to see the entire back page of the Perspective section of Sunday's newspaper to be a paid advertisement for America Forever. This organization was allowed to print that people in support of same-sex marriage were "working day in and day out to legalize and endorse homosexuality to children," that this legislation was "written for the sole purpose of exposing the children to homosexual conduct" and that "the gay agenda is Godless."

They continue to explain that marriage is "the union of a man and woman to procreate and have children" thus to "continue the heritage of the family." I don't know where to point my disgust first, with these ignorant statements or with the Times Argus/Rutland Herald for selling their soul to the devil.

So let's just be clear: first, supporters of same-sex marriage are not trying to convert children to become homosexuals; second, I married my husband with the very clear understanding we would not be having children; the "heritage of the family" is held by my husband, as an amazing stepfather, as the "real daddy" doesn't participate. That's the sad truth about the heritage of "family." I am thankful every day to have a partner in my life to share the responsibilities and joys with.

America Forever isn't even located in Vermont, but in Utah where apparently polygamist sects where young women are encouraged to marry between the ages of 12 and 15 is acceptable. I will no longer waste the money on the Times Argus/Rutland Herald and will continue to view the free online version, void of any of these disgusting rants. Hopefully, this letter isn't considered "libelous or in poor taste" — or should I have just attached a check so I could say what I wanted?
