MONTPELIER – Montpelier police have identified two juveniles they believe are responsible for the majority of the graffiti that has been appearing in the downtown area in the last several months.
The two juveniles are under 16, said police, and are both Montpelier residents.
"It's an ongoing thing that typically happens more in warm weather," said Montpelier's Sgt. Neil Martel of the graffiti issue, "but this most recent spate has been in last couple months."
Martel said there have been about 15 graffiti incidents in the past few months.
Police have not yet cited the two juveniles, but they said it's likely the pair could face either criminal charges or could be charged as juveniles. Martel said the juveniles haven't been cited yet because the investigation is ongoing.
Martel noted that police have additional suspects.
"The two have been responsible for some of the "taggings," but not all," said Martel.
Police are urging anyone with information about these incidents to call Cpl. Mark Moody through the Montpelier High School or the Montpelier Police Department.
