BARRE – Mark your calendars for Sunday, March 1, 3:30 to 5 p.m., and enjoy a presentation by William Tortolano, Ph.D., called "A Vermont Music Sampler," at Studio Place Arts, 201 N. Main St. You'll find out more about Vermont's musical history during this slide and music presentation. Did you know that John Philip Sousa wrote "Star and Stripes Forever" in Isle La Motte, or that Justin Morgan was first a composer and secondly a horse breeder? The doors to the SPA galleries will open at 3 p.m. so that guests may enjoy art exhibits before the event. Tortolano is professor emeritus of Fine Arts at St. Michael's College. Author, composer, conductor and organist, he has performed in Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. The Vermont Humanities Council provided support for this event.

The presentation is for all ages and it is free. For information, call (802) 479-7069, or go online to www.studioplacearts.com.
