Lau and Garfield lead Lyndon past Harwood

DUXBURY – Thanks to monstrous games from Jimmy Lau and Jake Garfield, the Lyndon boys basketball team had no trouble putting away Harwood 65-55 in Monday's boys basketball action.
The Vikings were led by the 27-point effort of Lau, who drained five 3-pointers and shot 10-for-12 from the foul line. Garfield was the inside hero for Lyndon, scoring seven field goals en route to tallying 19 points.
"We started off playing a zone, but we quickly had to switch to man defense," Harwood coach Ray Drake said. "Jimmy Lau was killing us with his outside shooting and it made us impossible to keep our defense solid."
Steve LaRock led the Highlander attack by pouring in 14 points, including four 3-pointers that kept Harwood in the game until the fourth quarter. Eric Mackey scored 11 points for the Highlanders, while teammate Dylan Peterson contributed 12 rebounds.
"We just couldn't get the game going today," Drake said. "We were only down by two points at the end of the third quarter, and then they started to pull away. They were playing a zone defense, and our outside shots just weren't falling. They were the better team out there tonight."
Lyndon held a 14-12 lead after the first quarter, but Harwood rallied to grab a 33-30 halftime lead. The Vikings regained the lead by outscoring the Highlanders 19-14 in the third quarter.
Harwood (5-5) will play at Lamoille on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
