SOUTH BURLINGTON (AP) — A case in which a South Burlington high school student was charged with sexual assault on two students who had sent him nude photos on their cell phones last month shows that Vermont teens are participating in a national trend called "sexting."

Schools and police nationwide have been grappling with the behavior for more than a year.

Some teens send photos of themselves to boyfriends or prospective boyfriends or girlfriends. The images might be considered child pornography, and the trend is raising moral and legal questions.

Jennifer Mitchell, vice president of Child Lures Prevention/Teen Lures Prevention in Shelburne, says "sexting" has been going on in Vermont for a couple of years.
