WATERBURY (AP) — The Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife says moose hunters took 605 animals in the state's split season in October.
The largest moose was a 926-pound bull moose taken in the town of Granby.
Twelve moose weighed more than 800 pounds.
Vermont Moose team chair Cedric Alexander says the moose herd is being managed scientifically.
Vermont's moose population is being pared in parts of the state because there are more animals than the forest can support.
