HINGHAM, Mass. – Lena (Caverzasi) Sheridan, 95, of Middle Street and formerly of Montpelier, Vt., died peacefully at home on Nov. 29 surrounded by family.

She was born in Montpelier, daughter of the late Peter and Carmela (Bernasconi) Caverzasi. She was a graduate of Montpelier High School, class of 1931 and had been employed for 39 years by the New Hampshire Insurance Company.

She was married to the late William F. Sheridan. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law James and Adele Sheridan of Hingham, MA, a grandson, Michael of San Francisco, a nephew, Peter Caverzasi of New York and three grand nieces.

Mrs. Sheridan lived in Montpelier for 82 years and was an active member of St. Augustine Church, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, St Vincent de Paul Society, Confraternity of the Holy Rosary, Ladies of the Knights of Columbus, Church Women United, Montpelier Senior Citizens, RSVP and for many years did volunteer work for the Meals on Wheels Program.

In 1995, she moved to Hingham, Mass., where she became involved with the Hingham Senior Citizens and the Hingham Women's Club. She also was a member of the OPALS (Older Peoples Active Life Style), a choral singing group.

Friends may call at the Hooker Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street , Barre, on Thursday from 9 – 11 a.m. with a funeral Mass following at St. Augustine Church in Montpelier at 11 a.m. Internment will be at St. Sylvester Cemetery in Graniteville in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Michael's School, 46 Barre Street, Montpelier, VT 05602.
