BRADFORD — Charles Wendall Rollins, 85, of Bradford and Newbury died Monday, Nov. 17, 2008, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.

He was born in Newbury on Dec. 27, 1922, the son of Leonard Wallace and Mary Mae (Meyette) Rollins. He graduated from Newbury High School in 1941. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He farmed, worked at Bath, New Hampshire Fiberboard and East Ryegate Vermont Paper Mill, owned Kenhensha Lodge in Wells River and was a rural carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Wells River.

He was a member and past president of the American Legion Post # 78 of Newbury and served as a lister for the Town of Newbury. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and television westerns.

He is survived by his wife Beverly Rollins of Bradford; three daughters, Eva Ciampaglia of Northfield, Sarah Demars of Wells River and Robin Rowell of Bradford; three sons, David Rollins of Allenstown, N.H., Matthew Rollins of Bradford and Stephen Rollins of Las Vegas, Nev.; nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Rollins of Barre and Bertha Burroughs of Newbury. He was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Mae Towle and Elsie Bailey and three brothers, Leonard Jr., Robert and William Henry Rollins.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Nov. 21, at 1 p.m. at Hale Funeral Home, Upper Plain, Bradford. Visiting hours will be held from 12 to 1 p.m. the day of the service.

In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Norris Cotton Cancer Center, One Medical Center Drive, Lebanon, N.H., 03766 or to the American Legion Post # 78 of Newbury 05051.

The Hale Funeral Home of Bradford is in charge of arrangements.
