NEWPORT, Vt. (AP) _ Two men have pleaded not guilty to charges accusing them of breaking into a Glover home and stealing money from a family at knifepoint.

Twenty-three-year-old Jason Abel, who does not have a permanent address, and 21-year-old Shawn Turnbaugh, of Newport City, were being held on $10,000 bail.

They're charged with breaking into the home of Christopher and Amanda Tropeano early Tuesday, assaulting him, threatening her with a knife and stealing $900 intended for Christmas presents.

They were arrested when police went to a Derby motel to interview Tasha Robbins, whom the family had taken in when a fire destroyed her home. Police say Abel, Robbins' boyfriend, and Turnbaugh were at her room and their clothing and other evidence connected them to the crime.

Scum! Taking advantage of the goodwill of nice people. May those two rot in prison for a long time.
