BARRE – Police in two communities are investigating back-to-back robberies committed by a female duo. The first robbery occurred late Wednesday morning in South Barre and the second took place after midnight Thursday on South Main Street, officials said.
Convenience stores were targeted in both instances, according to Barre police, who responded to a “hold up alarm” at the South End Cumberland Farms on South Main Street shortly after midnight on Thursday.
When they arrived, police were told the store had just been robbed by two young women who took off on foot. Police did not say what was taken, but indicated the robbery was similar to one reported shortly before 10 a.m. Wednesday at M&M Beverage in nearby South Barre.
Police said the two young women are believed to be in their late-teens to early-20s and were last seen wearing black jackets, sunglasses and gold/beige bandannas around their faces.
Police said the jacket worn by one of the women had fur around the hood. The woman also had a brown paper bag wrapped over her hand, as if it was concealing a weapon of some sort, police said.
Anyone with information about either incident is urged to contact Officer Michael Zemenek at the Barre Police Department (476-6613) or Sgt. William Dodge at the Barre Town Police Department (479-0509). -
