MONTPELIER (AP) — Democrat Peter Welch is leading Republican Martha Rainville by 10 percentage points in the race for the U.S. Senate, according to a poll released Thursday.
Welch would get 51 percent of votes and Rainville would get 41 percent if the election were held this week, according to the poll conducted for WCAX-TV. Six percent of respondents were undecided.
The telephone poll, conducted by Research 2000 of Rockville, Md., surveyed 400 randomly chosen voters.
The poll had a potential margin of error of plus or minus 5 percentage points.
