    WEST BERLIN – Jay A. Jennett, 34, of West Berlin passed away Sunday, Nov. 27, 2005, after he lost his four-and-a-half year battle with pancreatic cancer.

    Born in Berlin on May 21, 1971, he was the son of David Jennett and Mary (Haskins) Jennett of West Berlin.

    Jay graduated from U-32 High School in East Montpelier in June of 1990 and immediately served his country by joining the Army. Upon completing his three years of service, he worked at many construction jobs including Summit Construction, F. R. Lafayette and S. D. Ireland, to name only a few.

    Jay continued to serve his country by being a member of the Army National Guard. After being diagnosed with cancer, his goal was to reach the 15 years benchmark of military service; this was a feat he was able to accomplish this past September.

    Jay is survived by his parents; one sister, Ellen Matheson and her husband Keven of West Berlin; his nephew and niece Scott and Rachael Matheson of West Berlin; Jay leaves behind his maternal grandmother Eunice (Partlow/Haskins) Carpenter of West Berlin; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

    Jay was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Charles and Gladys Jennett, and his maternal grandfather, Delbert Haskins.

    Jay also leaves his very close friends at Ellie's Market. Jay has helped at Ellie's all of his life as his best friend was Richard Steventon from the market. Jay felt that Karen, Billy, Richard and Sarah were his second family.

    Jay passed his time by reading, spending as much time as he could with his nephew and niece and other family members and friends. Jay was known for his kind heart and his giving nature.

    Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 1, 2005, at 3 p.m. at the Masonic Temple located at 151 South Main St., Northfield.

    Visiting hours will be held at the Kingston Funeral Home located at 35 Slate Ave. in Northfield on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, from 7 to 9 p.m.
