MONTPELIER – The Montpelier post office late last week reported its American flag and a black flag recognizing prisoners of war and those missing in action as stolen.
The theft actually occurred a week ago. Several Montpelier businesses also reported their flags stolen last weekend, police said.
A white male is suspected of the thefts. Two young witnesses described the male as 20 to 30 years old, tall, thin and wearing tan pants and a darker tan waist-length hooded parka with a lighter tan lining. He wore black shoes, possibly sneakers, and a black watch cap, possibly with an insignia.
